{Spotlight Project} Maria Goes CAS with a Message

Welcome to my spotlight post about creating a super simple CAS card which still has a lot of "heart". If you've ever eaten at a Cracker Barrel restaurant you'll recognize where I got my inspiration ;) And you can imagine that my parents, who love the place, will appreciate my card.

STEP 1
I created a sheet of woodgrain cardstock, a la Karen D. of Snippets. Here is a link to her tutorial for this fabulous technique. I used Antique Linen, Weathered Wood and Gathered Twig inks.

STEP 2
Since it immediately reminded me of Cracker Barrel visits with my folks, I grabbed the rocking chair image from Country Rustic and decided on the big hello from Big Greetings.

STEP 3
Trimmed a rectangle of woodgrain paper to mimic a sign and heat embossed onto it. The embossing is "rustic" (due to the glue splotches and scored lines on the woodgrain) but that was perfect for this design.

STEP 4
Opted to go extreme CAS (no grounding of the chair with a floor or a shadow) but to try to have the sign appear behind the rocking chair. So I decided roughly where it should hang and stamped the rocker and a tidbit of the rocker on the corner of the sign.

STEP 5
Added some jute to reinforce the "rustic sign" feel, lined things up and adhered.

So there you have it. My extreme CAS card that still packs a punch cuz it has a "message" sure to be appreciated by the recipients.
